KINNARPS NEXT EDUCATION®
IS A METHOD THAT MAKES IT EASY TO CREATE THE LEARNING SPACES OF THE FUTURE

Here's how it works!       Why we created Next Education

For decades, education and teaching in schools has been evolving. In spite of this, the physical design of schools often looks the same as it always has done. But now things are beginning to change. With a good environment, we make it easier for students to learn. All students. We’re talking about learning spaces. We’re talking about Kinnarps Next Education – a method of creating rooms for active learning.

KINNARPS NEXT EDUCATION® GIVES YOU A TOTAL SOLUTION THAT MAKES THE MOST OF ALL THE KNOWLEDGE AVAILABLE AND CREATES A UNIQUE LEARNING SPACE:

An environment that supports the activities students and teachers engage in at school.

Better space-efficiency and use of all the school’s premises.

Sustainable and flexible interior design.

Spaces for spontaneous meetings and the opportunity to share knowledge outside the classroom, too.

Increased well-being among students and staff, who can move between ergonomically-correct environments.

HERE'S HOW IT WORKS - FIVE EASY STEPS TO YOUR FUTURE LEARNING SPACE:

1.
INSPIRATION & VISION

What does your ideal future learning space look like?

The first stage of the process is about inspiration and vision. For many people, the research findings about learning and the physical environment are new, as is the awareness of how even small areas can be exploited in smarter ways. New types of furniture can create flexible environments that encourage creativity and wellness.

Together with the school and responsible architects, we conduct lectures, study visits and workshops with all stakeholders in order to inspire and analyse.

2.
RESEARCH

How can we create safe, space-efficient furniture that will last a long time? How can we make space for both privacy and cooperation, rest and movement, while at the same time building an environment that creates well-being for both body and soul?

In the second stage of the process, we go into greater detail. We look at ergonomics, light, sound, active and passive spaces, age-appropriate – everything, in fact, that plays a part in making everyone feel as good as possible in the school environment. To help us, we have practical and specific tools that make it easy to participate, even for those who are unused to visualising new environments.

3.
DEFINITION

In this stage we first review the results of the analysis and ensure that they agree overall with your vision and your goals. Then the ball is in our court at Kinnarps. On the basis of the work we have done together with all those involved in the first two stages, we draw up an interior design proposal based on the requirements, needs and wishes that have emerged.

4.
IMPLEMENTATION

Now we build your new learning space. Paint, fabrics, light fittings, furniture – we load up our blue lorries and package as much as possible in our reusable blankets instead of disposable packaging. We take everything in, assemble it and put it where it belongs. That's the way it should be, of course, in a complete solution. Then it's ready. Now the learning can begin!

5.
FOLLOW UP

How have the new learning spaces supported your teaching? Has it worked out as you imagined? We discuss and evaluate these questions in a follow-up meeting. When we look back over the process together and look forward to all the new possibilities, both you and we have an opportunity to learn and to understand more about how we can make learning spaces even better in the future.

Why we created
Kinnarps Next Education®

MANY OF US LIKE SCHOOLS, AND THINK ABOUT THEM. SO WE CREATED A UNIQUE SERIES OF MEETINGS BETWEEN STUDENTS, PRINCIPALS, ARCHITECTS, TEACHERS, PHYSIOLOGISTS, PRODUCT DEVELOPERS AND DESIGNERS.

LET EVERY BUD BLOSSOM

The task of the school - to educate our young people for a future of constant change - is the most important one there is. When school succeeds in capitalising on the students’ curiosity and interest, the foundations are laid for endless opportunities.

Kinnarps Next Education is a philosophy and method concerned with making the most of all the opportunities there are for giving our young people the best possible skills for coping with what we can only guess at.

Today, we know that the physical environment is of great importance for learning. Good posture, lighting, acoustics and ventilation, and an environment that allows you to vary your workplace, make it easier to maintain a high level of concentration. The right furniture and equipment support learning in both formal and informal learning spaces. Good learning spaces, in a word, strengthen children’s development and make them better prepared for their future lives. Shouldn’t it be our obligation to give them such spaces, to the best of our ability?

That’s what we think at Kinnarps

So we’re doing what we can to contribute. On the basis of the available research, we are constantly working to find new designs, materials and concepts that create attractive, ergonomic, flexible spaces for learning. Then, together with schools and architects, we produce learning spaces that support students and teachers in their learning and development.

Now, together with you, we want to furnish the school of the future

Together, we can create an environment where every student has the opportunity to bloom. So now we wonder whether you’d like to know just what your best learning space would look like?
